Well, our dogs Jack and Frank have never been really into playing fetch. Now that Sara has really learned how to walk, though, it’s a great game for her!
And we’re really walking now. She’s getting pretty good at it – even when she’s exhausted like in this video
Well – new big news as of last night. Sara is now taking more than two steps at a time. Of course, she face plants after about six or seven feet, but hey – it’s progress
WOW! It’s been way too long since I gave an update…a little less than 5 months to be precise. I have an excuse, though – I was going to change web site hosts so I had a full back-up of my site and I didn’t want to add anything to until I was at a new host. Alas, I’ve decided to stick with my current service as I haven’t had the problems that I previously experienced.
So, this could be a long post, but I’ll try to keep it as short as possible. Let’s do Sara first. We last left off after Sara’s 6th month on God’s green earth. Hmmm…can I remember what has happened so long ago? Sara has a total of four teeth now, and is ever changing. She’s got a head of curly blonde hair. You wouldn’t know it, but that’s the same as her mother and I both had until we were 5-6. Sara’s is actually a little darker than ours was, though. She’s a super crawler now too. We had a couple of months where she would only low crawl around on her belly, but one day around 9 months she rocked back on her knees and realized that she could get around faster that way.
I absolutely love taking photos of Sara…as you’ll see she has really changed a lot. We started taking her to the Dallas Arboretum which was a great opportunity to get outside and have some new photo settings to use. Here come the photos, etc.
Sara Months 7 – 10
In June, Sara (and Jason) got to go to their first family reunion in southern Illinois. This was the 91st Swallow Family Reunion for Aimee’s side of the family. It was a good trip. We started in St. Louis, drove to Whitehall, IL, and then back to St. Louis via Hannibal. I’ve got to say that the only downside of the whole trip was leaving Dallas where we had a 6 hour delay due to rain. Sara is just like any little baby, though, in that she loves to explore. I finally had to start baby proofing the cabinets and other things. However, since I’ve done that she found out that she could go in an out of the doggy door on her own. We let her do so for the most part because she doesn’t like to leave the door step. Also, she took a couple of steps on her own a week before her first birthday, but nothing since then. Because of that we’ve decided to put her in the toddler/walker nursery room when we’re at church in hopes that she’ll pick up that skill from the other kids. I think that once she realizes that walking is faster than crawling she’ll choose that instead.
Sara Months 11 – 12
Finally, what else do I say…Aimee and Jason are fine – all is well in the hood. I am really trying to learn more about my photography hobby. I really enjoy it; I just have to keep it on the cheap. You can check out my stuff on Flickr here Jason’s Flickr

I’ve posted a new album of some selected photos from Sara’s 5th & 6th months

It seems so long since I last posted a full update, but it has only been two and a half months! We’ve been busy, though. Sara had another plane flight as we went to California for Christmas to visit Aimee’s mother, grandmother, and my sister and her family. We had a great time and a wonderful holiday.
In January, Sara finally started sitting up on her own. This is a huge milestone. She still enjoys her activity saucer, though. We also found a ticklish spot – this is probably more of a milestone for me because according to Aimee I only wanted Sara for my amusement. Maybe that’s so because who can resist her irresistible reaction?
At the end of January we took Sara to College Station for the first time where she got to see her first Aggie Basketball game, and she even got to meet former President Bush (#41).
February was a big month too. Sara got to use a spoon for the first time. Rice cereal went pretty well, but peas aren’t her favorite.
She’s growing so fast, and she’s such an amazing gift to us. I’ll update our family albums soon with a more comprehensive lgroup of photos. Our current albums can be found here: Heiserfamily Photo Albums
But until then I present, for you enjoyment, Gangsta and Naked Sara.
So we finally got a video camera. I’ve been kind of against the whole concept as I prefer still photography. However, my sister got a little video camera made by Flip that is intended for snippets and short video. I liked the concept and that it’s not intended to replace still photography. There are no cards or cables…just plug it in directly to any machine with its built in USB and you’re set – no software. Woot! put one up a couple of weeks ago so I bought it.
It will be a nice to have thing and Aimee can keep it in her purse or the diaper bag. We haven’t done a whole lot with it, but I went ahead and set up a YouTube account for posting. Maybe I’ll change it to another service at some point, but this works for now. You can find it here:
Stay tuned – I’ll be posting on Sara’s 5th and 6th months in the next few days. Aimee and Sara are in California so I’ve got all kinds of time on my hands!…oh wait, no I dont – now I have to take car of all of the things that I’ve been procrastinating <sigh>
I’ve posted a new album of some selected photos from Sara’s 3rd & 4th months
My how the days go by. It’s hard to keep track of time; everything seems to be moving so fast. On top of that, there’s so much going on that it’s hard to remember what we’ve done. Sara, of course, turned 3 months old! She grows so fast, and we can see her constantly changing…particularly in her behaviors. For one, she finally found her thumb! For those that don’t know, we decided to go without a pacifier. It’s been a topic of much discussion as has our use of swaddling. We figure that she’ll do fine. Pacifiers are a recent invention anyway, right?
We’re in a constant search for good portrait shots of Sara, and Aimee found the perfect backdrop. What do you think?
Also, being that Sara hit that magical 3 month old mark we decided to start having her learn to sit. This pod thing that she’s sitting in is great. She can’t stand to stay in it for very long right now, but I think that will change. It also seems to have created some interest in toys which up until now did not exist.
Sara also got some new outfits since she has started to grow out of her others. She got her first pair of jeans and got a whole lot cuter!
Finally, it’s Christmas time! Sara had to go have her first visit with Santa. Isn’t she adorable in that dress?
We have a busy month ahead of us. We’re going to California for Christmas this year – everybody will be there. Aimee’s mom and grandmother are there as well as my sister and her family. I’m sure that it will be quite the fiasco, but that’s what families are all about. I’m sure that Sara can handle it, though. At her four month check up she had more vaccinations and is now 24 1/4 inches and 15 lb 6 oz!
