A Busy October

Well – Sara has had a busy month!  She and Aimee started the month by heading to California with my mom to not only see her Grandma, but she finally got to meet her Great Grandma Evelyn, Aunt Candace, cousin Ellie, and cousin Ian.  It was a busy trip for such a little person.  She did great on the plane, though, and slept through most of the flight both ways.  I did miss them while they were gone, but I got to see her every night on Skype.  Her big accomplishment on this trip – she found her hand!  Yeay!

She also got to go to the Texas State Fair for the first time. She wasn’t the only first timer, though. My parents and sister Katrina had their first fair experience too. I think that everybody should go to the fair at least once. Geez, it’s expensive, though. Here’s Sara and Mommy at the fair.

Since it is October, we had to take Sara for the obligatory pumpkin patch.   Of course, I’ve got a ton of pictures, but I won’t bore you with them all.  If you want to see them I’ll put them up somewhere for you to view – just let me know.

Finally, we had Sara baptized on the 19th. We hosted a crowd of eleven family, and we got to use the new flagstone patio for the first time. I had finished it earlier in the week, and we put the furniture back on it just for this occasion.
I think that the weekend really took it out of Sara. Since then, she’s been sleeping between 10-12 hours every night ever since. I’ve got to admit, that’s great for Aimee, but it means that she’s not napping as much during the day. She is almost three months now, and we’ve learned that is about the age when their sleep habits change again. Anyway, here are some photos from the weekend.

OH!  Sara played dress up last Friday for my office Halloween party.  I really think that it’s just an excuse for everybody to bring their kids up for show and tell – not to mention we all left early for the day.  Anyway, Aimee and I won!  We had the cutest baby IMHO  😉  It was so beautiful outside this weekend so we took advantage of it and spent a couple of hours walking around downtown and had dinner on a patio.

So – that’s all for now. I hope that everybody has a great day. There will be more to come sometime in the near future. Sara started laughing this week so I’ll try to get some pictures of that.

Sara has passed the 2 month milestone

Well, Sara has now past her two month milestone.  She, Aimee and my mom went to California last week, and Sara did great.  She is a good traveler right now – no problems on the plane either way and she adapted to the time change well.  Should I have expected anything different?  I guess not.

That being said, I’ve finally posted an album for her.  You can find it on my new Albums page here:
Heiserfamily Albums

Also – new news on Jack and Frank.  They finally made their first kill!  I was proud of them…Aimee was appalled.  They have been tracking squirrels on the fence and in the trees in the back yard now for about four months.  Well, they finally cornered one under the grill on Thursday and they actually caught it.  After playing tug of war with it for a while I had to take it away from them when I got home from work.

Double Up Post

So, it has been quite a while since my last post.  All I’ve heard from anybody is that I need to post pictures of Sara.  So – here they are.  We’re adjusting to all of the changes in our house very well.  Even Jack and Frank are doing well…except for occasionally stealing a blanket from Sara’s bed.

Overall, Sara is a very happy baby…she doesn’t cry very much and she even knows night from day (for those of you that are parents you know that is great)!  As of her one month checkup she was up to 9lb 11oz…that’s really good considering she lost over a pound within a couple of days of her birth.

I’ve also been working on another project here at the house. A buddy and I ripped out my enormous deck in the back yard last January. Well, I’m finally getting around to replacing it. In its place we’re putting in a flagstone patio. It’s coming along nicely, but geez it’s a ton of work!

More to come on this project later…

What do you mean “Nothing Yet”

What do I mean “Nothing Yet”? Well, my last post was on July 27th, and as of that time we still had no baby in our arms. “But Aimee’s ‘due date’ was on August 1st” you say. I’m here to tell you that it is now late on August 4th, and we still don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. No, it’s not a hermaphrodite! The child just refuses to come out.

All of the grandparents are at our house patiently awaiting our call, but sadly, we have no reason to call yet. It has been a long 24 hours here at the hospital…hopefully, God willing, we’ll have something in the next 12 or so. An August 5th baby would be great!  Aimee’s doing great – she’s really a trooper.

So – keep your ear to the wind for the next time that you hear from me I will hopefully have some pictures of our bouncing baby _____!

Oh yeah, keep your nose to the grindstone while you’re keeping your nose to the wind (it’ll keep your boogers sharp!)

Nothing Yet

So – nothing yet – no baby.  I mean, it’s there…we just haven’t seen it yet.  The wait is getting a bit ridiculous since our doctor told us it would happen about three weeks ago, but the wait is good.  If the baby is ready then it’s not ready.  Plus, Aimee’s mom arrived from California today so it’s good that she will get to be here for everything.

That’s all for now…hopefully we’ll have another update sometime this week.

So it begins…

The clock is ticking down; our time waiting for our baby is rapidly coming to an end.  By that, I mean that we will probably have a new addition to our family within the next week!  While this wait has seemed so long it has been too short at the same time.  We still have so much that we could do, so much to prepare for, baby gear to sort through, house projects to complete.  But all that will have to wait I suppose.  Who’s complaining, though, we’ll have a blessed new gift to attend to.  We have been found fit to raise a child and that is such an amazing thing.

My father gene hasn’t completely turned on yet, but I’m sure that will change as soon as I lay eyes on that squirmng little mess.  I’m really excited to see – boy or girl, brown or blonde (Aimee and I were both curly blonde as kids, small or as big as the doctor has led us to believe).  It’s all so exciting yet incredibly frightening at the same time.  But I guess we’ll do just what every new set of parents do – learn as we go.  That’s what I’m planning on at least.  I mean – geez- I’ve never even changed a diaper (much to my family’s dismay as they tried to get me to with my niece and nephew).  I’ve just never seen the need to try.  Babies and kids generally don’t like me…apparently I’m scary or something.

On another note, I’ve decided to grow a beard for the birth.  I just have these images of new fathers holding new babies all bearded and stuff.  I am man – I helped make this!  It could just be that the visuals I have of this are all from pictures from the 60s and 70s.    So, wish us luck – we’ll see how it goes.

And now comes the fun stuff

Aimee is now on her 35th week.  She’ll have her last sonogram on Thursday to kick off week 36 – look for pictures to come.

Since all of the doors are now done and the clock is ticking rapidly towards this whole life changing event thing I decided that I’d better start going through some of the gear that we’ve been blessed to receive thus far.  Tonight, after we took the dogs on a walk (because for some reason it was really nice outside) we installed both car seat bases, put together the stroller frame, assembled the glider (it’s really a swing – why would they call it a glider?), and then tested everything out.  So far so good!  I guess that this is the easy part.

Soon I may think about starting to dig out the back yard in preparation for installing a new patio since we had to rip the old deck out.  It was a shame that we couldn’t use the back yard this Spring so maybe I can have it ready for the Fall.  Only time will tell.

More Doors

¡Woo Hoo!  All of the doors have been painted and hung.

That is all – thank you

Almost there…

Well – six weeks left to go until Baby Heiser’s birthday.  Geez it’s coming quick!

That means that there are six weeks left to finish organizing the nursery; six more weeks to finish painting the doors; six more weeks to find (or build) a medicine cabinet for the bathroom; six more weeks to maybe build a new patio; six more weeks to find a pediatrician.  Where did the time go?

Luckily, we won’t be going out of town anymore.  Aimee got the “no more travel” from her doctor.  So, although we’ll miss some things we definitely need our weekends here to finish our to-do lists and prepare for our upcoming attention hog.  We’ll get it all done and, hey, if we don’t – Oh Well.  It will all get tone eventually.
